Internet minutes
The problems in Asia have affected our economy.
Are the telephone companies aware of what will occur within our stock market should they decide to charge for Internet minutes? We are already being charged for the use of the Internet.
We of fixed income are a sizeable number to be using its services. We will just have to learn how to play games and no longer chat with people of the same interests.
If the "poor" phone companies need money so desperately and don't mind the state of the economy, I believe they could make more money by a charge to the telephone solicitors who are really a nuisance. We the American people are very tired of the pestering with the constant offer of free gifts at a price.
I repeat as did a Jan. 22 letters to the editor: "The FCC has created an e-mail for your comments. Responses must be received by Feb. 13. Send your comments to isp@fcc.gov."

Concert rip-off
Re "Iglesias concert rip-off" (Jan. 18): After doing everything published in your paper to obtain a refund and then filing the paperwork with the Texas attorney general almost two years ago, the referenced article is the first information I've had on any action at all being taken.
My assessment of the situation is that the attorney general's lack of performance is the major problem.
The incompetence of the attorney general's office needs to be exposed. Personnel in that office approached this situation as if it were a case of a disputed claim.
It is not a disputed claim. This is a case of blatant criminal fraud. The attorney general needs to perform. An effective first step would be to freeze Gavrel's bank account. Then he might be forthcoming and eager to settle this sorry affair.
The non-performance of the attorney general is a disgrace to Texas and an affront to each ripped-off consumer.

Can't go to college
There is something bothering me about today's society.
I was a freshman in college. I had to drop out because I could not afford it. There are so many people willing to help kids who don't even want to go to school, but there is no one willing to help someone who really wants to go to school. This really disappoints me. The only thing I want is to go to school.
