Eidson is effective
Taylor County District Attorney James Eidson - experienced? Yes! Fourteen years in the Taylor County DA's office. Effective? Yes! Solid convictions, capable staff, keeps within his sound budget. Dependable? Yes! Has, while district attorney, devoted his full time, energy and knowledge of criminal prosecution to the betterment of the community by getting offenders off the streets by convictions in trial.
Having known Eidson for more than 20 years, I can attest to his commitment to his job, community and to his children. As a parent of two youngsters, he has compassion for youth and a strong motivation to deal severely with child abusers and sex offenders.
Ethical? He tells it like it is, both professionally and in his personal affairs.
When looking for a person to take care of me and my family in the important matters, such as medicine, finance, education and the law, I look for training, experience and stability. I have found all of these qualities in James Eidson; thus, I support and will vote for him in the election on March 10.

Deatherage support
I am writing in support of A.L. Deatherage for justice of the peace, precinct 1, place 1. Deatherage is a highly qualified individual with a background in business as well as law enforcement. The experience and training he brings to the job has made him uniquely qualified for justice of the peace.
The people of Abilene need those in public office to be honest, trustworthy, fair and dependable, as well as unbiased toward any special interest group.
I encourage everyone to vote March 10 for a man who will represent all the people without regard to race, creed or religion.

Not Starr's fault
We all know the investigation by Judge Starr has taken a long time. Is there anyone out there who does not believe that major reasons for dragging this out are the collective amnesia, Fifth Amendment pleas, shredded documents, lost and then mysteriously found records (unaltered?), outright lies, court challenges and witnesses leaving the country?
All this from a group that is cooperating fully. We know they are cooperating fully and provided all necessary information because they told us so.
If someone comes forth from this White House and tells the truth, it will be like lancing a boil. Until this boil is lanced, just like a boil that spreads to healthy tissue, the corruption will continue to fester and infect all who come too close. Count the people hurt by their association: Gov. Tucker, the McDougals, Judge Hale, Webb Hubbell, others who pleaded guilty, and now Monica Lewinsky is added to the list. Who is next?
Is it really Starr's fault that these people did the things they did? Did they do these things on behalf of Starr? If not for him, then for whom and with whom?

Eidson has respect
Why change a good thing? We have all seen District Attorney James Eidson in action, and he gives 110 percent to the DA's office.
He handled my case in 1990. We were hit by a very intoxicated driver in February, and the case came up in August. The defendant sits in Huntsville and will for some time. Eidson has my utmost respect.
Human nature seems to drive us to change. We have everything and more in James Eidson. Why gamble on change? We most likely will come up empty-handed.
