'Say So Week'
May 24 through May 30, 1998. Not just another spring week, but "Say-So Week." Seven special days in which to remind everyone to just take the time to say "Thank you."
The women's group (GLOW, Grace League of Women) at Grace United Methodist Church, 1402 Grape, is very proud to be sponsoring this event again. The city of Abilene and state Rep. Bob Hunter's office issued proclamations to make it official.
We ask that you take time each day of that week to call someone, write a note, send a card or tell someone in person that they are doing a great job. You can start with your family, as we sometimes don't thank them enough. You can then branch out to the people you come in contact with daily. You will find you are the one that is truly blessed.

Memorial service
Last year my wife and I attended the Memorial Day Sunday services at Elmdale Baptist Church. We were very touched and moved as those both living and dead were honored and remembered for their service to this country during World War II, Vietnam and the Korean "conflict." Several living POWs were present and we were indeed honored to be in their presence.
The church building itself has a significant history, having been moved to its present site from old Camp Barkley. Although the sanctuary is rather small, the church members have generously invited any who wish to join in this memorial service, today at 10 a.m.
Many thanks to Nancy Robinson, Elmdale Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Confederate Air Force members who participate in the flyover and all who give their time and heartfelt attention to this great memorial.
