Finally fed up
OK, I’ve finally had it. The recent article by Diane Meier about her newfound vegetarian lifestyle was little more than self-righteous and judgmental “feel good” babble. Her statement that eating meat is “unhealthy” is as fallacious as saying that Monica made Bill do it.
Vegetarians always claim the high ground unfairly in terms of health. I dare say their passion diminishes when other health issues such as vigorous aerobic exercise, calorie counting, driving sensibly, managing stress, etc., are called upon.
Finally, along with the meats and mother’s recipes which she discarded to prove her love for health and animals, I hope she included all her leather shoes, belts, and purses. It’s only fair.
In any case, I hope I can live through the venison tenderloin with salad and homemade bread I’m having for supper. Darn, and I could have had Tofu Surprise.

The dog’s side
Living on a street that lies in the path of about 30 middle school students, who taunt my dogs every day on the way home from school, I was extremely interested in Judge Andrew’s decision to have an innocent dog executed.
It appears to me that more common sense, more intelligence, more maturity and more self-restraint were expected from the dog than from the teen-age girl. The dog was where he was supposed to be, and under the circumstances he did what he was supposed to do. That certainly cannot be said for the teen-ager.
If the assaulted party is condemned to death for defending himself, I would like to know what the punishment for the assailant is going to be.
I am truly perplexed about Judge Andrew’s judgment in this case, and I hope the death sentence will not be carried out.

Grateful to be home
I returned from Arlington yesterday and feel that interstates, roads and boulevards are a virtual maze of twists and turns before I reached my destination to see my son, who teaches there.
The map I had was no relationship to the way it actually looked! Arlington being squeezed between Fort Worth and Dallas caused many surprises when I found myself in one or the other.
The Thanksgiving gifts I received were directions given by patient souls. And the greatest one of all was an acoustical business in Arlington whose owner volunteered to lead me to the school.
Here are two main reasons why I was so grateful this season:
n That I live in Abilene.
n That I discovered the Metroplex is not just composed of freeways with cryptic signs but people with kind and generous hearts.

One word says it all
Lies, lies, lies. I never heard so many lies in all my life. Hillary blames all of Bill’s problems on a “right-wing conspiracy.” She knows better than that. Lies, lies, lies.
Bill keeps saying, “What the people want is to put this thing behind us and let me get on with running the country.” That is one big lie.
Clinton’s lawyers keep saying, “There are absolutely no impeachable offenses.” Lies, lies, lies. But that is what they get paid for, so we understand that.
Then all of the Democrats get up and they whine and they scream and they beat their fists and they keep on saying that Kenneth Starr is “out to get Clinton.” Lies, lies, lies.
I guess they think if they keep saying it enough times that the people will start believing it. Lies, lies, lies.
God bless America!
