Making us patsies

Mr. Livingston confesses affairs throughout his career. Salvation, spiritual guidance and forgiveness he received. He never lied, we are sure -- he told us so. They were unknown, not employees. Twinkle Toes, investigate please.

Livingston confesses because he was caught. From the caucus they marched united one and all. "A despicable conspiracy to dirty the fine statesman." Hyde set the example. Past indiscretions are history and of no importance. "That" conduct does not reflect on the character of these fine statesmen.

Wake up, people. Politicians are making you patsies. A liar is a liar, even when not caught. Adultery is adultery. Not my words but words of the righteous just a few days ago as they debated impeachment.

With $50 million spent, Clinton got caught. Investigate the likes of Hyde and Livingston. How is "not an employee" defined? Who was misled? How? The accused says it's unimportant, not the same as the president's debacle.

Show them! We people are smarter than they think. Dirty politics is when a party loses. It's just part of the game when they win. Clinton is no worse a statesman than Hyde or Livingston. Character is certainly no worse. Hyde and Livingston ask their "good" record to stand. Mr. Clinton's record is no worse and in some ways better. Let it stand.

But the rules for Clinton are different than for Republicans. Newty Baby taught that when he investigated his predecessor and circumvented similar allegations with only a simple fine and censure.

Thus to tyrants

Today is the saddest day in American history and ranks second to none in the corruption of the U.S. presidency.

As the strike orders were given to send American airmen into harm's way, another calculated deception was foisted upon the people of the United States.

Just as the commission of perjury and its coverup was orchestrated by Bill Clinton, Operation Desert Fox was launched to divert our attention from the major issue -- impeachment!

But the rule of law for the president has ceased to exist. Instead, we see Clinton as a true despot joining with tyrants of the past like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Chairman Mao, all governed by the precept, "When in trouble domestically, direct the attention of the people to foreign threats."

This builds patriotism and allows the crippled leader to show his "leadership" in the face of the evil enemy.

History has shown that gullible, uninformed peoples fall for this ruse.

Listening to Clinton's speech, I recalled that he had used these same meaningless arguments repeatedly over the past six years. It was as if the "Iraq crisis" was kept warm on the stove so Clinton could use it when and if he needed it. I question the validity of this operation.

I served my country in war and peace for 23 years, but I did not fight to save America to be used by an adolescent-minded president who cavalierly sends young Americans to their deaths in order to save his place in history.

Whose economy?

In reply to Tamara Wells' Dec. 18 letter, I would like to remind her the German economy soared under the leadership of Hitler.

Our good economy is the result of the Contract with America by the Republican Congress and Alan Greenspan's low interest policy.

Clinton has had nothing to do with the economy's being good.
