Moments of Grace
( Editor's Note: Jill Robbins is the great-aunt of Cari Freeman
Solomon and great-great-aunt of 4-year-old Lauren Solomon. Lauren's
grandparents are Carolyn and Glen Freeman of Abilene.)
Moments of grace came to our family and especially to Cari
and Michael Solomon, who live in Irving, with their two small
daughters, Lauren, age 4 and Madilen Jacie, 11 months.
In April 1997 Lauren was diagnosed with cancer. Thus began
the treatments. Days in and out of the children's hospital. Chemotherapy,
radiation, blood tests, tube feeding. Worried times with sleepless
nights for Mom, Dad and those who love her.
Just before Christmas after a scan test, the doctors declared
the cancer in remission.
Tears of joy and laughter filled the room. And at that time,
Madilen took her first steps -- from Daddy to Mommy.
Moment of grace? Oh yes.
And a loving memory that will linger on in the hearts of parents,
grandparents and her great-great-aunt.
