Moments of Grace
God's grace and mercy are evident to us in our daily lives,
but there are special occasions that bring expressions of his
goodness to us more clearly.
A moment of grace for me was performing in last year's Easter
Pageant at the Civic Center. This was a rare and beautiful experience
for me, as I am not affiliated with Pioneer Drive Baptist Church,
which produces the pageant.
My heritage is in simple Christianity, as expressed in the
churches of Christ. But at that time I was ready for a special
occasion. I felt led by God to join this group of Christians in
singing the powerful songs of the pageant. I had no idea what
a life-changing time it would be!
As chorus members, we immersed ourselves in the event, costuming
ourselves as authentically as possible, to capture the feeling
of being in Jerusalem or Bethlehem 2000 years ago.
With the music stirring my heart, the drama of Jesus' life,
death and resurrection became very real to me. This experience
also brought me close to my brothers and sisters in Christ who
sometimes worship God in a slightly different way.
I can hardly wait for the next pageant. I hope you can come
see "Jesus -- His Story." It could change your life.
