Moments of Grace
"Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that
I give you. I do not give it as the world does..."(John 14:27)
Oh, how we need peace in today's world! Jesus is the King of
Peace; He is Peace! He came so we may have eternal life in peace
in his father's kingdom. His peace is our inheritance and the
sure way in sharing his resurrection.
Christ distinguished his peace from the world's. "Do not
think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did
not come to bring peace, but a sword..." (Matthew 10:34-35).
This sword is the truth in Christ that is in conflict with the
world.
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, before his passion and death,
he said, "If you only knew today what is needed for peace!
But now you cannot see it!" (Luke 19:42)
He speaks of our world today. When we are blind with worldly
passions, we do not recognize his gift of peace!
Christ came to teach us how we are to recognize his gift of
peace. Our lives are journeys of conversion to the joy and likeness
of Christ, a journey marked with repentance and forgiveness and
sustained in prayer, fasting and grace.
Therefore, let us rejoice this Easter in the joy of peace bestowed
on us through Christ. As we journey with Christ we taste and see
the goodness of God, and Christ draws us to seek evermore his
divine grace.
And as you journey you will find the fullness of Christ in
his church and his family, our brothers and sisters who are examples
of faith in his peace and who go before us, Peter, Paul, the apostles
and saints, and a special model of faith, his blessed mother.
