Other lectureship activities
The annual lectureship at Abilene Christian University is more
than a series of lectures.
Each year, people are honored for their contributions to the
university and to society, and auxiliary meetings and conferences
are held on a variety of topics.
William and Betty Tate of Grapevine were honored Friday as
Parents of the Year. They are the parents of twin daughters who
are current ACU students, as well as three daughters who have
graduated.
At noon Sunday Nancy Miller of Abilene will be honored as Outstanding
Alumnus of the Year during a luncheon at the Abilene Civic Center.
She is the executive director of Christian Homes of Abilene.
At noon Monday, the Christian Service Award will be given to
John and Ruth Stevens of Abilene. The former ACU president and
city councilman and his wife will be honored for their lifetimes
of service.
On Wednesday registration begins for the 14th annual Conference
on Youth and Family Ministry. Registration will be from 2-4 p.m.
in the campus center. During the two-day conference on Thursday
and Friday, Drs. David Lewis and Carley Dodd will present the
findings of their national research on the sexual morality of
adolescents in the churches of Christ and its impact on spiritual
development.
On Friday and Saturday, the Christians in Theatre Arts Conference
will be held in Sewell Theater. Registration is at 11 a.m. Friday.
Performances will include "A Cloud of Witnesses"
at 5 p.m. Friday by alumni David and Donjalea Chrane, "Wait
Until Dark" at 6:45 p.m. Friday by ACU students, "Dusty
Pedestal" at 3 p.m. Saturday by ACU students and a one-man
show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by alumnus Curt Cloninger.
