Wylie churches hold Thanksgiving celebration
By LORETTA FULTON

The Wylie family will gather for a Thanksgiving celebration
Sunday, and it will certainly be one of the biggest family gatherings
this Thanksgiving season.
Members of six Wylie community churches will join together
for the annual community Thanksgiving service, to be held this
year at 7 p.m. Sunday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo
Gap Rd.
"We'll pray together, and then we'll fellowship together,"
said Sister Dolores Siebenmorgen of Holy Family.
The Rev. Michael Patterson, pastor of Wylie Baptist Church,
will bring this year's Thanksgiving message titled "The Stuff
of Thanksgiving."
The annual event has grown so much that Siebenmorgen was concerned
that everyone would fit into Holy Family church, but she assured
that space would be found for anyone wishing to participate.
"We'll see how many we can squeeze in," she said.
Between 300 and 500 people normally attend the gathering, which
has been going on for at least 25 years. People from each congregation
participate in the service of prayer, songs, Scripture reading,
a Thanksgiving message, and music.
This year's offering will go the Habitat for Humanity. The
service will feature a combined choir of the six participating
churches -- Holy Family, Wylie Baptist, Ridgemont Baptist, Wylie
United Methodist, Beltway Park Baptist, and Southwest Church of
the Nazarene.
Directing the choir will be Gerre Joiner, minister of music
at Wylie Baptist. Dr. Murl Sickbert, choir director at Holy Family,
will lead the congregational singing.
