ACHS 39, Temple Christian 6

LEWISVILLE -- Lightning struck twice Friday night, and Temple Christian was the victim both times as Abilene Christian University posted a 39-6 Six-Man football win.

With lightning threatening all around, the game was called at halftime as the Panthers improved to 5-1 on the season.

David Wilson of ACHS returned an interception 37 yards and a punt 52 yards for touchdowns, and also recovered a fumble.

Cody Bell threw two touchdown passes, and was 6-10 overall for 86 yards. Austin Cunningham caught one of his passes for 43-yard touchdown.

Louis Lerma and Ryan Davis added rushing touchdowns for the Panthers.

Cherokee 46, Sidney 0

SIDNEY -- Unbeaten Cherokee scored with 7:57 left in the third quarter to put Sidney away on the 45-point rule and post a 46-0 Six-Man victory Friday night.

Rommy White scored a pair of touchdowns for the 5-0 Indians, on runs of 5 and 19 yards.

The game ended four plays into the third quarter on Jeremy Lackey's 25-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Whitley. Whitley also threw a touchdown pass to J.R. Heiss. Eric Hernandez scored one touchdown, and Johnny Perez hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Stan Ball.

Sidney fell to 0-5 on the season.

Mullin 49, Oglesby 0

MULLIN -- The Mullin defense held Oglesby without a first down as the Bulldogs rolled to a 49-0 Six-Man football victory Friday night in a game stopped on the 45-point rule.

Scott Seago scored on runs of three, 18 and 18 yards and Danny York threw touchdown passes to Greg Strasser and Cody Foster to highlight Mullin's offensive attack.

Billy Trott, Michael McWhorter, Kurt Ruddy, Tim Shelton, York, Seago and Strasser led the way for Mullin's impressive defensive performance.

Mullin improved to 4-1, while Oglesby dropped to 0-5.

Grady 69, Paint Creek 22

PAINT CREEK -- Paint Creek gave up six touchdowns by Jonathan Ribble as Grady took a 69-22 Six-Man football victory Friday night.

Ribble scored on runs of 6, 9, 1, 10, 3 and 15 yards.

Grady improved to 3-2 and Paint Creek slipped to 1-5 with the game, which was not originally scheduled.

Paint Creek got a 6-yard touchdown run and a 70-yard kickoff return for another score from Eric Hearn. Jodie Reel added an 18-yard touchdown run for the Pirates.

Gordon 63, Buckholts 14

BUCKHOLTS -- Joe Kostiha caught a pair of touchdown passes and threw three others to lead the Gordon Longhorns to a 63-14 win over the Buckholts Badgers Friday in a game that was called in the third quarter on the 45-point mercy rule.

The win moved the Longhorns to 5-1 on the season.

Kostiha caught TD passes of 11 and 53 yards from Lyle Campbell and threw touchdowns to Robert Snelson, Jason Cochran and Campbell.

Campbell also ran in a score from 18 yards out and tossed a third touchown to Trey James.

Hermleigh 26, Lueders-Avoca 21

HERMLEIGH -- Caleb Callaway caught an 8-yard pass from Chris Doggett with 4:42 to play to lift the Cardinals to a 26-21 Six-Man football win over Lueders-Avoca Friday.

Hermleigh (1-4) had built a 14-7 lead before the two teams traded touchdowns with less than a minute to play in the half.

The Raiders' Scott Anders plunged in from a yard out in the fourth quarter to give Lueders-Avoca (2-3) its first lead of the game, 21-20.

Panther Creek 54, Woodson 6

PANTHER CREEK -- Stephen Loyd had six carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns to lead Panther Creek in a 54-6 win over Woodson Friday night.

Ray Buse also had a big game for the Panthers. Touching the ball only twice, he scored on both chances. The first came on a 40-yard rumble, and the next on a quick 12-yard pass into the end zone.

Also scoring for Panther Creek, now 4-1, were Blake Dawson, Dustin Speckles and Billy Delgadillo.

The Panthers held Woodson to under 100 total offensive yards in the game, and the lone score for Woodson, now 0-5, came on a 4-yard run from Scott Johnson.

Paint Rock 60, Veribest 31

VERIBEST -- Eddie Marin scored seven touchdowns as Paint Rock rolled past Veribest 60-31 in a District 10 Six-Man football game Friday.

Marin scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, two in the third and three in the fourth. Marin scored on runs of 34, 3, 24, 11, 37 and 18 yards and caught a 21-yard TD pass.

Paint Rock improves to 3-2 and 2-0 in District 10, while Veribest drops to 0-5 and 0-2.

Blanket 46, Rochelle 0

ROCHELLE -- Derek Hood scored three touchdowns to lead Blanket to a 46-0 shutout of Rochelle here Friday.

The win boosts Blanket to 4-1 for the season while Rochell dips to 2-3.

Hood scored on runs of 27, 10 and 5 yards. Other scores came from Michael Ballenger on a 27-yard run to begin the night's scoring, a 6-yard run by Kyle Gibbs, a 37-yard pass from Earl Bilbrey to Mike Risse and Ben Bundick's 42-yard run.

The game was called in the third quarter on the 45-point rule.

Trent 50, Loraine 16

TRENT -- Kevin Sanford rushed for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Trent past Loraine, 50-16, Friday in a Six-Man non-district football game.

Sanford, who also had 10 tackles on the night, scored on runs of 6 and 47 yards in the win that improved the Gorillas to 4-1 on the season.

Rusty Brown added four touchdowns for the Gorillas, as well as four interceptions on defense. Brown scored on a pair of runs, caught a 27-yard TD pass from Lafe Sargeant and ran back an interception 60 yards for another score.

Loraine (0-5) scored twice on a pair of Luis Rico TD passes to Josh Woodell.

Strawn 44, Richland Springs 0

RICHLAND SPRINGS -- Strawn's Greyhounds outran the Richland Springs Coyotes, 44-0, here Friday behind the two-touchdown performances of Shane Mallory and Allen Lynn.

Junior Nunez and Josh Ratliff each added a TD and Jeff Hopkins booted four PATs. The Coyotes managed only four first downs against the tough Strawn defense.

Strawn is now 5-0 while the hosts dropped to 2-3.

Highland 62, Blackwell 36

ROSCOE -- The Highland Hornets handed Blackwell its first loss of the year, a 62-36 spanking in District 10 action here Friday. Both teams are now 4-1.

Steve Lomas and Juan Rodriguez each had three TDs for the winners. Lomas' came on runs of 7, 9 and 5 yards; Rodriguez' on runs of 1 and 15 yards, plus a fumble recovery in the end zone. He also booted seven PATs. Lomas rushed for 198 yards on 29 carries.

Jarod Bowen and Stoney Burke each had a TD pass from Greg Landfried.

For Blackwell, Jesus Chavez, Nick Rutherford, Jimmy Holland, Adam Wilkinson and Scotty Killough each had one TD.

Ira 32, Midland Trinity 6

IRA -- Ira scored the first four touchdowns of the game and went on to stop Midland Triity 32-6 here Friday night.

Ira improved its record to 3-2 with the win.

Jose Juarez scored on runs of 6 and 1 yard for the Bullodgs. Jerek Brown added a 6-yard touchdown run while Nathan Smith returned a fumble 32 yards for another score to give Ira a 26-0 lead.

After Trinity scored late in the third quarter, Harry Jamison galloped 24 yards early in the final period for the game's final points.

Westbrook 64, Moran 14

MORAN -- Westbrook won its third game in five tries with a 64-14 rout of Moran.

Moran, 0-5, scored its points on a pair of long touchdown passes from Derek Schoen to Daniel Newcomb. The players teamed on scoring plays of 65 and 52 yards.

Moran and Woodson open District 11-A play next Friday.

Rule 77, Vernon Northside 27

RULE -- Jay Louder scored four touchdowns as Rule scored seven more points than Mark McGwire hit home runs in a 77-27 rout of Vernon Northside here Friday night.

Louder scored on runs of 2, 39, 16 and 14 yards as Rule ran its record to 5-0.

Cody Tibbets ran 29 and 32 yards for two touchdowns while Humberto Sotelo raced 38 and 41 for two more scores. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Brian Lehrmann and Ralph Huerta.

Vernon Northside falls to 1-4 with the loss.
