Tuesday, April 14, 1998 World's Original Cowboy Rodeo April 24-25 The 52nd presentation of the World's Original Cowboy Rodeo
will be offered at Hardin-Simmons Univeristy's Carl Myers Arena
April 24-25. The change from three to two days is a change being implemented
by most schools as a concession to the academic schedules, according
to Watson Moore, HSU spokesman for the annual event. Debra Jones, director of HSU's Six Whiite Horse Program, will
make her first appearance as Rodeo Manager since being appointed
to her position last year. Another change for the 1998 event is in the starting hour --
7:30 p.m. Again, there will be no admission charge for either
Friday or Saturday night. The HSU rodeo is the fourth of five events held during the
Spring under supervision of the Southwest Region of the National
Intercollegiate Rodeo Association with Mike Yeater serving as
director. The season ends May 2 in Stephenville sponsored by Tarleton
State University. Rodeo Clown Quail Dobbs, HSU's Six White Horses and the internationally
famous HSU Cowboy Band will entertain during the show. Officials are Barney Brehmer and Jimmy Adams, judges; Gerry
Byrns and Gerald Shields, bull fighters; Philip Schultz, announcer
and Dolly Riddle, show secretary. Terry Walls of Stephenville
is the stock provider.
