Announcements
Diane Fraley, RN has been named administrator of Texas Cancer
Center in Abilene.
The announcement was made by Texas Oncology, PA, and Physician
Reliance Network Inc.
Fraley, an Abilene resident for more than 11 years, most recently
served as nurse manager of the oncology unit for Hendrick Health
System.
Texas Oncology is in the final stages of building a $9 million
cancer center in south Abilene at Antilley Road and Central Park
Blvd. The 22,000-square foot facility is scheduled to open in
June.
Physician Reliance Network is the practice management company
for Texas Oncology. It currently has more than 2,000 employees
and 297 physicians in 106 locations and 17 cancer centers throughout
the United States.
Former Abilenian Guy Lucas has completed requirements to become
a certified public accountant in Amarillo, where he is a supervisor
with Clifton Gunderson PLLC.
Lucas, a graduate of Abilene Christian University, received
his MBA from Texas Tech University. He is a native of Roscoe who
worked for First National Bank of Abilene for eight years.
Lucas has three years' experience in accounting with emphasis
on agri-business, financial institutions and cost recovery studies.
Clifton Gunderson is the 13th largest accounting firm in the
United States.
David L. Carter, adjunct instructor of management sciences
at Abilene Christian University, has earned the designation of
personal financial specialist from the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants.
Carter is a 1972 ACU graduate and local CPA who has taught
at the university since 1982.
Phil Watkins has been appointed to the Texas Real Estate Inspector
Committee for a six-year term, according to Mark Moseley, general
counsel of the Texas Real Estate Commission.
Watkins has Watkins Real Estate Inspections. He has been a
licensed real estate inspector here since 1983.
USA VenturCraft has announced its 1997 Classic in the Kwik
Kamp line of touring motorcycle campers.
Improvements include the mattress, headroom, tent fabric and
tires, said Stuart P. Hall, VenturCraft president/CEO.
Seminars
Jud Powell of Edward Jones recently attended a four-day seminar
in Boston, hosted by Hartford Life Insurance. The seminar focused
on Hartford's new mutual funds and on equity funds managed by
Wellington Management Co. LLP.
Powell was one of 43 Edward Jones investment representatives
attending the seminar.
Honors
Deanna Woodard and Thresa Stocz of Dillard's Lancome cosmetics
counter were recently honored - Woodard as Lancome business manager
of the year and Stocz for personal sales.
Woodard's counter ran a 21 percent increase - the highest in
West Texas. She was the only business manager in West Texas to
receive the award, marking her second straight year for the honor.
She has been with Dillard's for eight years.
Stocz received the Lancome President's Circle Award for sales
exceeding $141,000. She is a makeup artist and has been with Dillard's
for two years.
Amy Whaley has been named employee of the month for January
by Mediplex Home Health Care Companies.
Whaley is RN case manager for the Eastland branch office. She
joined Mediplex at Breckenridge in September 1993.
Tommy Gottschalk of Abilene has been named truck driver of
the month for January by Crete Carrier Corp. of Lincoln, Neb.
Gottschalk has been driving for Crete Carrier since June 1993.
Crete is a hauler of general commodities.
