Oil engineers to hear Phillips official
The Internet and its applications for the petroleum professional
are on today's agenda for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Thomas Thrasher of Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville,
Okla., will address the West Central Texas Section of SPE at 6:30
p.m. at the Petroleum Club.
Howard Miller, section chairman, said Thrasher will discuss
how the Internet can be used to work smarter, collaborate with
peers and integrate communications.
Thrasher is with Phillips' Rsearch & Services Division.
He has a special interest in computer technology and holds a petroleum
engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Life underwriters to meet
William B. Elkjer, deputy commissioner of the licensign group
of the Texas Department of Insurance, will speak to the Abilene
Association of Life Underwriters today.
Elkjer oversees the licensing and regulation of insurance agents,
third party administrators and premium finance companies in Texas.
For seven years, prior to joining the DoI in July, he managed
various departments in the State Comptroller's Office.
He is a graduate of St. John's University and the University
of South Dakota.
The meeting will be at 11:45 a.m. at the Abilene Country Club.
