American Eagle pilots reject contract
DALLAS (AP) - Pilots for American Airlines' regional carrier,
American Eagle, on Monday rejected an agreement that would have
replaced four affiliates' contracts with a single labor accord.
Air Line Pilots Association members voted 642-505 against the
tentative agreement reached in May. Both sides expressed disappointment
over the rejection, but said they would continue talking.
Union leaders planned a meeting on members' disagreements over
the contract offer, which was endorsed by the union's executive
council last month.
The proposed four-year contract would have offered a single
seniority roster for all 1,900 American Eagle pilots. Entering
the talks, each of the four affiliates had its own seniority list,
which the pilots wanted consolidated.
The affiliates are Simmons Airlines of Fort Worth; Executive
Airlines of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Flagship Airlines of Nashville,
Tenn.; and Wings West Airlines of San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The proposed pact came just after American Airlines pilots
ratified a five-year contract following nearly three years of
bitter negotiations with parent AMR Corp.
