Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Version 7
By Dr. Solomon's Software Ltd.; $50, Windows 95 and 3.x; Phone

By JAMES COATES / Chicago Tribune
Peace of mind probably is cheap at any cost and certainly the
$50 suggested retail price of this sturdy anti-virus package created
by British computer scientists is modest enough for those who
want to plumb the binary bawdy houses of the Internet and return
with a clean bill of health.
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that more than 10,000
of these beastly bits of Internet-borne infection are on the loose
at any one time. The least obnoxious do nothing more than say
they are there by printing a message on your screen.
Others, like the infamous Michelangelo that's set to strike
on March 6 of each year in commemoration of the great artist's
birthday, can totally destroy the contents of a hard drive.
Anti-virus software is a competitive field. Dr. Solomon's stands
out from the pack by offering around-the-clock technical support
for unforeseen emergencies and a better grasp of European and
Asian viruses than do competitors.
Dr. Solomon's comes with a floppy disk that you use to reboot
your machine and scan for the most obvious virus problems. You
then install the full software and check and disinfect the entire
contents of every file on every hard drive and floppy drive attached
to the machine.
