AUSTIN - One day after backup offensive lineman Shane Hannah quit, Dallas
Cowboys backup defensive end Shante Carver left training camp.
Carver, the team's first-round pick in 1994, left camp Saturday morning
for unspecified personal reasons. It's not known when, of even if, Carver
will return to the team.
"All I'm going to say is that Shante left for personal reasons,"
Dallas head coach Barry Switzer said after Saturday afternoon's practice.
"That's all I'll say about it."
Carver has been a disappointment after being selected with the 23rd pick
of the 1994 NFL Draft. He's recorded just 26 tackles and 2-1/2 sacks in
two years in the league.
He languished on the bench for much of his rookie season before finally
getting on the field for all 19 of the Cowboys' games last season. But his
lack of productivity led the Cowboys to draft defensive end Kavika Pittman
of McNeese State with their first pick in the second round of this year's
draft.
Hannah quit the team Friday morning to return home to Ohio to work on his
father's farm.
