Troy
Aikman: FAQs
Can I get an autograph from Troy at Training
Camp in Austin?
Maybe, maybe not. In the past, after each afternoon's workout,
some of the players stop by the stands or along the fence to give
autographs. Since the crowds continue to increase at St. Edwards,
getting an autograph from Troy becomes increasingly difficult.
The size of the crowd sort of dictates autograph signing for the
"stars." They couldn't possibly hang around long enough
to sign everyone's, and how do they sign a jersey for 30 kids
and then disappoint the 31st by walking away?
How old is Troy? Is Troy married? If not, does he have a girlfriend?
Troy, who turns 30 on Nov. 21, is not married. If he has a serious
girlfriend, he is keeping her under wraps as he prefers to keep
his private life private. His most serious romance to date has
been with Lorrie Morgan. Morgan, who admittedly wanted to marry
the Dallas quarterback, blames the media pressure for them breaking
up.
What is Troy's e-mail address?
Anyone who has ever had too much e-mail downloading on a busy
morning, tying up his or her computer for too long will understand
why Troy Aikman does not make his e-mail address public. If Reporter
OnLine knew it, we would not give it out.
Well, then how can I get in touch with him?
We suggest you snail mail a letter to him in care of the Dallas
Cowboys, Cowboys Center, One Cowboys Parkway, Irving, Texas 75063-4727.
Does Troy keep a diary?
Yes, he does. Reportedly so that when he writes a more in-depth
book about this life, he'll have personal reference for his feelings
at the time.
Why did the Cowboys draft Aikman?
It probably had a lot to do with Troy's performance in the 1988
Cotton Bowl when he shook off an early interception to lead UCLA
on touchdown drives of 97 and 74 yards in the first half on his
way to a 17-3 victory over Arkansas. At the time, Gil Brandt,
then the Cowboys' chief scout, said: "The Cowboys have lost
some luster and he (Aikman) will help us retain it. He'll provide
a little excitement to Dallas and Texas." Sure enough, Dallas
drafted Aikman a couple of months later, and the rest is history.
