GIFT BOOSTS MONASTERY EFFORT

Philanthropist Eva Camunez Tucker has given $100,000 to begin fundraising efforts of the cloistered Carmelite nuns of San Angelo for a new monastery.

The San Angelo Catholic Diocese takes in much of the Abilene area. The new monastery will be built on land given to the nuns by Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Holt near Christoval.

The sisters currently reside in a house in San Angleo. The Carmelite Sisters spend about eight hours a day in prayer throughout the day and night.

The new monastery will be named "Our Lady of Grace and Fairest Love" to honor a request of Pope John Paul II.

An account has been established for donations to the monastery fund. Anyone interested may write to Our Lady of Grace Monastery #1 St. Joseph Place, San Angelo 76905.
