'TOYMAKER'S DREAM' TO BE PRESENTED AT HSU
"Toymaker's Dream: The Masterpiece," a multi-media
presentation with a Christian message, will be presented at 7
p.m. Wednesday at Behrens Chapel at Hardin-Simmons University.
Elm Valley Community Church is sponsoring Toymaker, which features
an international cast of students. Admission is free. A love offering
will be received.
"The Masterpiece" evolved from the 1980 street theater
production of "Toymaker and Son" in Ontario, Canada,
by Englishman Colin Harbinson. Two years later, a group of Tulsa,
Okla., high school students, after attending a workshop by Harbinson,
presented the same drama on stage. An initial weekend run extended
to a month.
Since then the troupe has performed in 23 countries. The show
has been presented in Abilene previously, the first time in 1990
at Behrens Chapel. It showed again at the Paramount in 1992 and
has been back since then. In March 1996 the show was again presented
at Hardin-Simmons.
The production blends dance, theater, music and special effects
to enhance a story about good, evil and the fight for mankind.
