ACU professor honored in publishing world
Dr. Gailyn Van Rheenen is one of two ACU professors to be honored
in the publishing world.
Van Rheenen, professor of Bible at Abilene Christian University,
wrote a textbook titled Missions: Biblical Foundations and Contemporary
Strategies, which was one of five finalists for a national Gold
Medallion Book Award.
The award was announced at the recent joint meeting of the
Evangelical Christian Publishers Association and the Christian
Booksellers Association.
Previously announced was ACU graduate Max Lucado's award for
his book In the Grip of Grace, which won the Gold Medallion Christian
Book of the Year Award.
an Rheenen's introductory text is designed for present and
future missionaries to equip them "with an understanding
of the theological, cultural, and strategic foundations on which
effective missions is based."
At ACU, Van Rheenen will use the textbook in his introduction
to world evangelism course.
Van Rheenen's 14 years in East Africa equipped him with true-life
examples and insights into mission work that he used in his book.
