Cowboys pound Texas Wesleyan
FORT WORTH - Senior catcher Jason Graham from Abilene had three
hits and drove in five runs Tuesday as Hardin-Simmons University
pounded Texas Wesleyan, 14-2, in a non-conference baseball game.
The Cowboys trailed 2-0 before exploding for 13 runs in the
fourth inning. Seven of HSU's 16 hits in the game went extra bases,
including two home runs and five doubles.
Graham had a homer, double and single. Leftfielder Clay Johnston
was 4 for 5, including a home run, and knocked in a pair of runs.
Ricky Ballard rapped two doubles and a single and drove in three
runs for the Cowboys, who improved their record to 23-17 on the
season.
Texas Wesleyan is now 19-22.
Jody Curry, making just his second start of the season, hurled
his second straight complete game in getting the victory. Curry
(2-1), allowed seven hits, walked four and struck out one in seven
innings.
Hardin-Simmons will close out its regular season with a three-game
American Southwest Conference series Friday and Saturday against
Austin College in Sherman.
