Lady Indians defeat Mid-America Bible College, 89-72

McMurry University rolled to an 89-72 women's college basketball victory over Mid-America Bible College Monday night at Kimbrell Arena.

Debra Williams was the top scorer for the Lady Indians with 23 points, followed by Ogonna Merritt with 17 and Sande Bundas with 16.

Williams also led in rebounding, with 11, and Merritt dished out eight assists.

The Lady Indians held Mid-America Bible to 27.5 percent shooting from the field overall, and outrebounded the visitors by a 57-50 margin.

"We played great defense, did a super job of pressuring the ball and a super job of rebounding with 57 rebounds. I was really pleased with that," McMurry head coach Sam Nichols said. "Dedra Williams had an incredible game. She just did a great job of controlling the middle of the lane.

"Sandy Bundas made three straight shots to start the second half. Our inside game just was real efficient. We were not only scoring from the field, we were making our free throws. After the long road trip, I was really pleased with our mental toughness to come out and play as strong as we did. Oganna had her usual solid game.'
