Keene police investigating murder; may be town's
first
KEENE, Texas (AP) - Police were investigating Tuesday what
the chief believes is the first murder in the town's 105-year
history.
No arrests have been made in the death of Holly Kimbrough,
who apparently was struck in the head by a blunt object, police
said.
Chief Regan Scherencel responded to a call at the Kimbrough
home early Monday from husband James Kimbrough. He told police
he had left home en route to his job in Cleburne when he decided
to turn around to retrieve an item he had forgotten.
When he went to the bedroom, he found Mrs. Kimbrough unconscious
on the bed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they found no evidence of forced entry into the
home and no evidence of a struggle. A steel pipe believed to be
the murder weapon was found outside the house.
"It does not appear that this was a bungled burglary attempt,"
Scherencel said. "We do not feel there is any reason for
the community to fear for their safety because of this incident.
I believe that the evidence in this case shows that Holly Kimbrough
was not the victim of a random attack."
Keene, a town of about 4,000 people, is 24 miles south of Fort
Worth. Send
