Lottery issues request for proposals for pickup truck game

AUSTIN (AP) - The state Lottery Commission is asking for proposals for trucks that will make Texans shell out their bucks.

The commission has invited interested vendors to submit proposals to furnish 50 trucks as part of the prize structure for an instant ticket lottery game scheduled to be offered in spring 1998. The instant game will include the chance to win the pickup as well as traditional cash prizes.

"Texans buy more trucks than do citizens of any other state. We believe that driving the 'Official Truck of the Texas Lottery' will add to the fun for our players," said Linda Cloud, acting executive director of the Lottery.

The request for proposals calls for 1998 or newer full-size, half-ton, 6-1/2-foot bed pickups with automatic transmission, power steering and anti-lock power brakes.

They also must have a customized limited edition package consisting of an AM-FM stereo compact disc player and clock, tinted glass, deluxe grill, top-of-the-line trim package, floor mats with the Lottery logo, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, exterior upgraded mirrors, upgrades cloth bench seat and chrome step rear bumper.

Manufacturers are invited to propose other extras to make the trucks an attractive prize.

Ms. Cloud said vendors have until 4 p.m. Dec. 12 to submit a letter of intent. Proposals are due by 4 p.m. Jan. 23, 1998.Send a Letter to the Editor about This Story | Start or Join A Discussion about This Story
