By The Associated Press
Picture-perfect weather - mostly clear skies and temperatures
around 60 - was expected across Texas for the last day of 1997.
Tuesday was one of the warmest days this month in North Texas.
Plenty of sun and westerly winds provided afternoon highs ranging
from 63 at Paris to 70 at Killeen and Temple.
Skies were cloudy to mostly cloudy in the Trans Pecos region,
but skies were clear elsewhere in West Texas. Temperatures ranged
from 39 at Amarillo to 67 at San Angelo.
South Texas had some high cloudiness Tuesday. Temperatures
were generally in the 60s across the region with some 70s in the
Rio Grande Valley. Winds were form the south and southwest at
10 mph.
More of the same weather was predicted across Texas for New
Year's Eve.
North Texas was expected to have clear skies with highs in
the 50s and 60s and lows in the 30s.
West Texas expected partly cloudy skies with highs in the 50s
and 60s to near 70 in the Big Bend and lows in the 30s and 40s.
In South Texas, variable high cloudiness was expected with
